I wanted to ask - do most of you believe modding a doll for my enjoyment is wrong because the doll is rare at the moment (even if it’s not limited and I payed for it)? If it’s too soon, is there a rule of thumb on how much time should pass? And can you honestly say it’s not fair that I have it but…
I don’t speak for the whole fandom, as I’m just one person, but in my opinion rare doll modding is a pretty douchey thing to do. It’s not quite as bad if you’re only buying one of a particular doll, but if you’re buying more than one that makes you no better than a scalper in my book. You’re making an already rare doll even harder to find and defacing it as well. That’s only for the rares, just to clarify. If you’re modding Cupid you’re a jerk. If you’re modding a SS Frankie that you got from a store that had 15 in stock, more power to you.
Your childhood analogy is flawed by the way. Maybe you’re upbringing was different from mine, but when I was a kid and I wanted a doll I would only get ONE of that doll. I was free to chop off its hair and paint it if I wanted but if I wanted another of that same doll my parents would just tell me that I shouldn’t have ruined the one I had and they weren’t going to waste money on a duplicate.
Why the hell did these not exist when I was a kid? If they had my Littlest Pet Shop wouldn’t have been run by Skipper and Courtney, it would have been run by Ghoulia and Frankie and it would have been MAGNIFICENT.

Has anyone who collects these things notice that the head mold for Dead Tired Frankie is narrower than the regular head mold for her? What’s up with that? You can even see it in this picture it’s so obvious.
